Painting is more than the expression of thoughts and emotions. The art that I am creating is my voice translated into color, form, and shape.
Having had no formal training as an artist, I have continued to expand the process of creating through a system of trials. There are no errors in my work. Each color I choose, line I make, and every shape is an action deliberately taken, articulating my journey thus far.
My passion as an artist comes from a power greater than myself. The voice I have been given as a painter allows me to piece together fragments of my past, connecting them to the joys and pitfalls of the present. The medium I choose to work in, at a given time serves as a conduit linking together my total experience.

Joseph Ferm Bio
Born 1975 in Elmhurst IL, Joseph Ferm moved with his family to CT. in 1979. Apart from the requisite art classes in his primary and secondary schooling, Ferm is self taught as an artist. Ferm began to seriously paint in the winter of 2002, after significant changes in his life. Having moved to the Hudson Valley of NY, in the spring of 2002, Ferm became active in the local arts community. Some thirty group and solo shows later, with over a thousand finished paintings on paper, canvas, and wood, and with work in private collections worldwide, he continues to create.

Ferm is currently employed as a Registered Nurse in the Intensive Care Unit at ST. Peters hospital in Albany NY.
